How it Works...

Setting up our pre-employment drug testing program is as easy as 1,2,3:

Step one: Send in the Sign-up form.

There is no set-up fee, minimum usage or contract.  The  service is on a pay-per -use basis. PDS will immediately send chain of custody forms for the laboratory and collection network that best suits your needs. For payment, an employer has four easy options:

  1. Give PDS a credit card that we will access only after a test is completed.
  2. Give PDS a credit card for security and we will bill after completed tests.
  3. Fill out a credit application (that can be downloaded from the secure order page), and PDS will bill.
  4. For publicly traded companies on a major exchange, provide PDS with your stock exchange symbol, and PDS will bill.

Step Two: Provide your applicant with a  chain of custody form and the location of the nearest collection site.

The chain of custody sheet is multi-part form that PDS provides to the employer. The employer must give the chain of custody form to the applicant to take to the nearest collection site. PDS will provide an employer with a list of test sites to meet its needs.  If additional locations are needed, an employer can use the easy location look-up database to find collection sites nearly anywhere in the US.  If a collection site is not listed in a location that is needed, simply  call PDS.

IMPORTANT:  An applicant should always call before going to have the test to confirm hours and location. A chain of custody form is like a blank check that authorizes a drug test when taken to a collection site that accepts that form. In addition, most many employers requires that a test be completed within a certain time period (e.g. that day, 24 hours, 48 hours) to ensure accuracy.

The employer should fill in the name and social security number of the applicant on the form. It is a good practice to also have an applicant sign a consent form before taking a pre-employment drug test.

Step Three: Receive your results from PDS.

PDS will make the  results available to an employer as soon as we get the results from the laboratory.  PDS can transmit results by e-mail, fax (to a confidential machine only) or a confidential telephone number.   In the event of a negative test, an employer will normally be advised within 24-36 hours.

In the case of a positive test, or abnormal results, a Medical Review Officer (MRO) reviews the results. PDS may call you in order to obtain the applicant's phone number so the MRO may talk with the applicant directly about the the results to determine if there is an acceptable reason for a positive/abnormal test.  In the event a retest is necessary, an employer can start over at step two. A retest is priced as a new test.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call PDS at 1-888-999-4474 or e-mail us at info@employmentdrugtesting.com.
